High-Throughput Screening Facility - (ICGEB, Trieste, Italy)
The High-Throughput Screening Facility at the ICGEB was established in 2008 to foster the application of high-throughput approaches in fundamental biomedical research, by providing the research community with a platform of up-to-date instrumentation and adequate expertise.
The main focus of the Facility is the development of high-throughput and high-content RNAi screenings using genome-wide siRNA and microRNA libraries.
Research groups external to the ICGEB are welcome to contact Dr. Miguel Mano (mano@icgeb.org) concerning collaborative projects and training opportunities.

International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) - (Trieste, Italy)
The International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) provides a scientific and educational environment of the highest standard and conducts innovative research in life sciences for the benefit of developing countries. It commenced operation in 1987 as a special project of UNIDO (the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation) and became an autonomous intergovernmental organisation in 1994. A total of over 60 countries are now full Member States.
Scientific activity at the Trieste Component of ICGEB focuses on several advanced projects in current biomedical research. The research programmes include basic science projects such as the control of gene expression, DNA replication, DNA repair and RNA processing, studies on human viruses (HIV, HPV, rotavirus), cardiovascular diseases, molecular immunology, molecular genetics, experimental hematology and human gene therapy. Currently, 16 Research Groups are active at ICGEB Trieste.
